Joy Taylor's most recent work can be found in the following compilation of stories and poetry:
Christmas! The way we observe it might include serving others, sacrificial giving, a family meal, baking special treats, or certain decorations, songs, and movies.
For some, it also includes participating in a church Christmas program, attending a candlelight Christmas Eve service, or reading the Christmas story in Luke to those gathered at home. Many of the stories you'll find here are about personal experiences that have shaped the Christmas celebrations of the authors. Other stories reflect the way Christmas celebrations have changed very recently. And some stories are just for fun. Yet all contain the message of why celebrating Christmas is about more than traditions or even gifts. It's how we share God's perfect gift. |
Joy S. Taylor, mother of 5, grandmother of 8 so far, sister to 3 siblings, and sister in Christ to all who follow Jesus, is author of compelling collections of poetry. That’s me in author bios. Let me give a more personal perspective. I earned a Master’s degree in accounting from the University of Missouri at St. Louis. I had the privilege to lead the DivorceCare support group at First Christian Church of Florissant (FCCF), MO. I started also working in leadership for Celebrate Recovery from its inception at First Christian Church of Florissant (FCCF) in Florissant , Missouri. In 2012, I handed the leadership of the DivorceCare ministry over to a beautiful and capable sister in Christ, and I began serving as the Assistant Ministry Leader for Celebrate Recovery at FCCF. In addition, a couple summers have found me in the classroom as team teacher of the ladies Tuesday evening Bible studies. I founded Joy in Verse Ministry, Inc., to praise God, promote Christian poetry and point to Jesus in 2009. The ministry seeks to send encouraging messages to listeners through my poetry, coupled with Bible verses. Your donation and purchase of one of my books helps pay for the expenses of maintaining the podcast show, ‘Joy in Verse.’ I expanded the Joy in Verse outreach to build a greater circle of influence and platform on the internet. I am excited about the possibilities God is leading me toward.
Go to joyinverse.libsyn.com and listen as often as you like to any one of the ‘audioblogs.’ My work is cut out for me. There were about 130 encouragement verses that played on a local radio station for three years. I am adapting them to podcast format every week and releasing a new episode each Tuesday morning. Give them a listen and tell me what you think. As I grow closer to that time, my job description changes from full-time accountant to full-time ministry through the blessing of achieving retirement age, I look forward to the dream God has laid on my heart to host retreats for women affected by abortion. My work in Celebrate Recovery has brought the need of these ladies front and center in my reality. It is a deep need, and I am praying for wisdom in the best way to address it. Findings: My Journey to Joy points you to the Master Healer, who fills in all the holes in your being which living leaves behind. Miles of life’s road lie between where I travel today and the point at which I started. My second compilation of Christian poetry, Finding Brighter Days, released August 2, 2011, addresses the ups and downs we all experience. God’s grace entwines among the thorns of life and leads me to a life of victory in Christ. |
