“Brian, I want to be straight with you,” Detective Wright said. “I believe that Libby’s life may be in grave danger. I would like for you to stay close to her at all times and let me know if you see or hear anything out of the ordinary. I’m waiting on a call back from the prison about James, but in the meantime, we need to take every precaution.” He didn’t need to tell Brian to stay close to Libby. A bulldozer could not drag him from her side.

Brian was the one person whom Libby had felt a close connection to since her parents were killed. In the few short months they were together, Libby felt a strong and enduring tenderness, growing into what she felt could be a lasting relationship. Having already endured much trauma in her short life, with Brian at her side, Libby strikes out on a mission to find and confront the one person responsible for the death of her parents. The journey turns out to be arduous and dangerous as they push forward to find the truth about Libby.  In the end, what they find is forgiveness and new life through God’s divine grace.

​This is the true story of a church in America's "Bible Belt", the First Christian Church in Florissant, Missouri; a church with a meager beginning and record of steady growth for forty-nine years until the weight of sexual abuse charges against a youth minister left it and its congregation, broken. This is a case history and analysis of those events. While assembling the documents, writings, and comments for this study, I realized that the issue went far deeper when the youth minister, Brandon Milburn, was brought to justice and convicted of sexual misconduct against multiple victims. I ask myself, "What about the victims? Who are the victims of this saga? Who are the perpetrators, the abusers?" At age twenty-six, Cheri Taylor found herself alone with a six-year-old child and nowhere to go except back home to her parents - Broken. This is a situation that many have faced, sometimes of their own making and sometimes, not.
