“Brian, I want to be straight with you,” Detective Wright said. “I believe that Libby’s life may be in grave danger. I would like for you to stay close to her at all times and let me know if you see or hear anything out of the ordinary. I’m waiting on a call back from the prison about James, but in the meantime, we need to take every precaution.” He didn’t need to tell Brian to stay close to Libby. A bulldozer could not drag him from her side.
Brian was the one person whom Libby had felt a close connection to since her parents were killed. In the few short months they were together, Libby felt a strong and enduring tenderness, growing into what she felt could be a lasting relationship. Having already endured much trauma in her short life, with Brian at her side, Libby strikes out on a mission to find and confront the one person responsible for the death of her parents. The journey turns out to be arduous and dangerous as they push forward to find the truth about Libby. In the end, what they find is forgiveness and new life through God’s divine grace. This book was inspired by the Truth of God's love for all mankind and His desire that none should perish when Salvation is offered for free. Hardship is often the vehicle that brings us to Christ, so look for His hand at work when you struggle to see and feel His presence. He loves you and waits for you to accept that love in His Son, Jesus Christ. |
God has a way of bringing things into our lives that teach us valuable lessons; our lesson was Faithfulness. And now, His message through us and the ministry of Faithful Crossings is "Faithfulness". If you are facing an insurmountable problem, God is asking you to step out on faith and take that proverbial "road less traveled," will you follow Him? He promises to carry you through each and every "Crossing" in your life; He only asks that you be Faithful to follow Him on your journey home. This book is a collection of stories...some are miracles, some are light-hearted and funny, and some will leave you in awe of the way God intervenes in the most hopeless situations. |
This is the true story of a church in America's "Bible Belt", the First Christian Church in Florissant, Missouri; a church with a meager beginning and record of steady growth for forty-nine years until the weight of sexual abuse charges against a youth minister left it and its congregation, broken. This is a case history and analysis of those events. While assembling the documents, writings, and comments for this study, I realized that the issue went far deeper when the youth minister, Brandon Milburn, was brought to justice and convicted of sexual misconduct against multiple victims. I ask myself, "What about the victims? Who are the victims of this saga? Who are the perpetrators, the abusers?" Through documented information and personal experience, along with added expert analysis, I leave you to draw your own conclusions. - Joy S.Taylor At age twenty-six, Cheri Taylor found herself alone with a six-year-old child and nowhere to go except back home to her parents - Broken. This is a situation that many have faced, sometimes of their own making and sometimes, not. Either way, everyone in such a situation has the same chance of bringing something positive out of such frightening circumstances. Often when we are broken, our tendency is to crawl into a corner and lick our wounds. We run from the only source of true help that is available —our faithful, loving, merciful, forgiving God. Many people decide to numb the pain with harmful substances, bad behavior, or other destructive choices. Fortunately, that was not the case with Cheri. Cheri made the hard choice to work through her pain with the help of her godly family and friends as she sought to resume the pursuit of the calling she had felt for most of her life, a calling that she thought had been stripped away from her. She learned that God’s promise to be “close to the brokenhearted; [and rescue] those whose spirits are crushed” (Psm. 34:18, NLV) was one that He would keep, just as He had kept all His other promises throughout the years. In the pages of this book, you will find the story of how a loving Father takes His broken child and makes something beautiful from the shattered pieces of her life. As you read, remember that what He has done for Cheri, He can — and will — do for you. - Henrietta Brown Published by: Lily of the Valley Publishing, Inc. (March 2022) |
